Welcome to Mrs. Ehrhardt's Page

Biography

My husband, Ken, and I have been parishioners at St. Matthew the Apostle Church for over 30 years. I heard a lot about St. Matthew the Apostle School from my mother-in-law, Jackie Ehrhardt, who taught second grade at St. Matthew in the 1960's. My two sons, Kenny and Ryan, are both St. Matthew alumni. I was a parent here for 12 years, active in Home & School, a Room Mother, and a Cub Scout leader. I am still involved with the Altar Server Program at SMA.

With over 25 years in education, I have worked one year in the Kindergarten program and then for many years in the 4th & 5th grades.  I taught 4th grade for 3 years at St. Rita School and then I came to SMA and taught the 4th & 5th grades.  This is the eighth year that I am working in the Resource Program and my 22nd year at St. Matthew. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans and a certification in elementary education from the University of Holy Cross. I am a lifetime certified teacher in the State of Louisiana in the 1st through 8th grades. I also have an elementary school religious certification from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.  I was honored to receive a plaque from V.F.W. Post 3267 as their "Teacher of the Year" during my time as a SMA 4th grade teacher. During the 1990's and 2000's, I wrote a weekly column in the Times-Picayune newspaper called, "Along the River" about the people and events in the Jefferson, Harahan, and River Ridge areas.

I have loved my years being a parent, a volunteer, and a teacher at St. Matthew. I hope to be a member of the faculty for many years to come. This definitely does not feel like a job to me because I love being around children and St. Matthew feels like home.
